Thank goodness I have so much extra.

Now the cutting. Cutting always makes me nervous.

Here we go...
Hopefully, this will do it.

Okay, I'm going to start on the vest today :)
I will base my pattern on this, adjusted for neckline, length and overall fit.

Now, the vest! ...after a break, that is.

This is how it looks tied :)

Ta-da!! It's done!! Don't look too closely, but it will look fine enough under the vest.

Then, I ironed the folds & pinned them up. It took two nights to get to this point. I can’t wait to start sewing tonight!

I made pockets at the ends & placed the lining lengthwise.

It was hard to cut the lining perfectly straight with scissors too. It’s very important for the cut to be perfectly straight so the tie would not look bumpy. If I ever decide to make a tie again (which is HIGHLY unlikely) I will get a rotary blade.

Then, I cut the fabric & lining… The fabric stretches like crazy!! It stretches at least 25% of its intended length!

I started with making a 6-fold tie pattern, using D’s tie as a guide for width and length.

As an experiment, I decided to TRY making a matching tie. I’d heard how hard it is to make a tie, since the whole thing would be cut diagonally.

This is what we came home with. It’s not perfect, but I guess it will do.

Given the difficult time I was having in finding the fabric I wanted, D & I decided that we would visit the fabric stores in NOVA for the one last time. We decided that if we don’t find the fabric I so So desire this time, we would settle.
